💘 OPIC AL합격후기입니다.

OPIC은 회화실력평가 시험으로 영어,중국어 등 외국어 회화실력을 검증할 수 있는 시험입니다.

시험은 컴퓨터로 진행되며, 질문을 듣고 대답한 답변을 녹음하여 시험관이 채점하는 형식입니다.

OPIC시험을 총 2번 응시했는데요, 맨 처음엔 시간을 엄수하지 못해 마지막 2문제 정도를 답변을 못해 IH를 받았습니다. 그 후 2번째 응시할때는 최대한 질문의 핵심과 시간을 맞춰 시험을 보았더니 AL을 받을 수 있었습니다.

오픽에서 자주 등장하는 category별 질문들을 추려서 본인만의 script를 짜보며 연습하는 것이 도움이 많이 되었는데요, 실제로 위 사이트와 제가 시험을 칠때 나왔던 질문들을 간추려서 예시용 script를 짜보았습니다. 

 

[ 본 script는 제가 즉흥적+개인적 공부용으로 짜놓은 것이기 때문에 문법이나 표현이 어색한 부분등이 있을 수 있습니다. 실제로 저도 시험을 볼때 일상에 많이 나오는 표현 위주로 쓸려고 노력했고 문법등 어색한 부분들은 크게 신경쓰지 않았기 때문에 엄격히 검사할 대상이 되지는 않습니다. 참고용으로 한번 보시면 좋을 것 같아서 올려봅니다.  ]

 

1.     자기소개(Self-Introduction)

Q. Let's start the interview now. Tell me something about yourself.

        Hello Eva, (이름을 꼭 불러주는 것이 좋음) I’m [이름], and it’s so nice to meet you. I’m [나이] years old and I’m currently working as a software developer in an IT company. I live alone, and my place is near where I work as you can imagine it’s convenient that way. I’m taking this test because not only it looks good on my resume but also, I wanted to see how well I could handle this sort of tests. In my free time, I like to work out or watch movies and sometimes go for camping. I guess that’s pretty much it, thanks for listening.

 

2.     사는 곳

Q. What are the causes of the housing shortage in your community? Tell me some issues that people talk about related to the housing shortage.

        I’ll answer this question in the extent of my country. In Korea, housing shortage is one of the biggest problems that people are facing now. It is mainly due to the reason that we don’t have enough land for the population that live in the country. That’s why it’s so common to see so many high apartment buildings in Korea. I can also think of another reason why this is happening and that is that people with wealth own or buy those housing properties even though they don’t live there, and eventually that causes the prices to go up. This is a serious issue because average people can’t afford those prices and not only buying a house or apartment is too expensive, but lease and rents also get too high for them to afford.  (적당히 포인트에 맞춰서 대답하는 것이 중요)

 

3.     영화

Q. You indicated that you like to go to the movies. What is your favorite genre of movies? Why do you like those types of movies?

        Well, it’s hard to say what is my “favorite” genre of movies since I’m such a movie fan as I mentioned earlier. But to choose one, I’d say that mystery thriller is my pick. I like those types of movies because often movies in that genre tend to be good ones. I feel like that they give you a puzzle you’ve got to solve throughout the running time, and I usually find those puzzles interesting and exciting. I try to solve or guess the answer while I’m watching it and that keeps me concentrated. (너무 장황하게 말하면 시간이 부족하기 때문에 질문에 대한 핵심을 말해주는 것이 중요)

 

4.     공원

Q. You indicated that you like to go to parks. Tell me about one of the parks that you often visit. What does it look like? Tell me what people do there at the park.

        I often visit the one close to my place. It’s got a river that runs alongside and trails for both walking and bicycles. It’s a beautiful place especially in mid to late spring when cherry blossoms bloom and that’s when it gets most of its visitors of the year. People usually walk, jog or ride bicycles there and sometimes hang out with their friends or family on summer nights.

 

5.     여행

Q. Unexpected things can happen on trips. Talk about an unforgettable incident that happened on a trip. Why was the experience so memorable? Give me all the details.

        As you said, unexpected things do happen when you travel. The incident I’d like to mention is when I almost missed the connecting flight. Me and my friend were traveling together and at the time we were both waiting for the connecting flight to our destination. As you can imagine, we were both thrilled and full of excitement. We had just had some snacks and gone to the washroom for one last time before we boarded the plane. And when it was about time to get on the plane, my friend almost screamed and said she had lost her wallet and her keys! I’m sure you can imagine how we felt as it was so close to time. We both kind of freaked out, but we decided to go back and search the places we had been at the airport. And guess what, we found her belongings in the washroom at the exact spot where she had left them and forgot to grab. Anyway, we made it on time (even though we almost didn’t,) and had a great time during our trip. So I guess it was a trip to remember for sure.

6.     집에서의 휴가

Q. You indicated that you take vacations at home. What do people in your country normally do on their vacations? How has the way they spend vacations changed over the years? Give me specific examples.

        Yes, I do love taking vacations at home. I wish if I could just take a month off for a vacation, I would be the happiest person in the world since it’s been years I took such a long vacation. So, on vacations, you can say that people are divided in two categories where I live. There are those who like to go away on their vacations(aboard, anywhere away from their home) and the others would be the ones who stay home and chill out. However, over last two years, that has changed quite a bit due to the pandemic crisis and people are no longer able to travel aboard(it’s not technically banned, but generally people are very careful and sensitive regarding trips outside of the country). So, majority of the people started taking vacations at home including those who weren’t used to it. I guess that’s a big change in a way of spending vacations and even in our daily lives and I really hope this pandemic to be over sometime soon.

 

7.     수영 (운동category)

Q. How did you first learn how to swim? How old were you at that time and who taught you? How have you developed your swimming skills since then?

        Well, to be honest I can’t exactly recall when I first learned how to swim. I guess it was when I was in elementary school, so I must’ve been like 11 or 12. My mom used to take swimming lessons at the community center(you know like YMCA), and one day she suggested me to also take lessons with her. I didn’t think much about it, and anyway I went with her. I took junior classes and learned basic swimming skills from the coach but also from time to time my mom would watch me while she’s taking a break or something and teach me a few tips to get better at it. Unfortunately, I haven’t really developed my swimming skills since then.

 

8.     카페 (자주가는 장소)

Q. What’s your favorite cafe? Where is it located? Why do you like to go there? Tell me all about it.

        I usually go to the one in my neighborhood. I go there because it’s so close that it doesn’t even take five minutes on foot and the place is cozy with great menus. I usually visit this place on weekends to study and have some relaxing time of my own. I’d have my laptop or book on one side with coffee or latte on the other. This place’s also got brunch menu at lunch hour and if I’m there on right time, I often enjoy those brunch menus too. The sandwich is really great though. And that’s pretty much all about my favorite café.

 

9.     출장 (business trip) – Role playing

Q. Pretend that you are on a business trip. You are staying at the hotel, and you’d like to ask a few questions at the reception. What would you ask?

        Well, first of all I’d probably ask whether the room is ready and if I need to, I’d ask for amenities I could be in need like extra towels or blankets. Then, I would probably ask for the hours of use for services and facilities the hotel offers. You know, something like a gym and swimming pool, or spa if they’ve got one. And finally, I’d like to get recommendations for places worth visiting in my free time such as famous restaurants or must-go spots in town. The last question is the one I’d hope to get some good answers if I were put in the situation you said.

 

10.     은행

Q. Banks have changed over the years. How were banks when you were young? How are they different from what they look like now?

        Well, I guess as technology evolved, pretty much everything has changed in some way over the last few decades. When I was young in the mid to late 2000, people used to go to banks a lot in person to deal with their financial services. But then the smartphone came out and now people mostly do the same stuff on their mobile devices instead of going to banks physically. I myself also rarely go to banks unless it’s necessary and use services on banking apps.
